Abstract

The analysis of the seismic response of tanks is important in risk assessment in industrial areas because the spillage of liquids can trigger other catastrophic phenomena due to the loss of containment. Therefore, seismic assessment should focus on leakage-based limit states.

This article discusses the analysis of the seismic response of reservoirs subjected to seismic actions on the basis of a simplified procedure. The procedure takes into account impulsive and convective actions of liquid in storage tanks.

The seismic responses (sloshing wave height) are calculated using the response spectra of the different sites. The response spectra are determined on the basis of the Algerian paraseismic regulation RPA99 Version 2003.
